For the love of SKIN

There are countless elements in our everyday life that play a significant role in contributing to our overall health and well-being. One aspect that you may not actively consider on a daily basis is the fact that our skin is, in fact, the largest organ in the human body. Given its size and importance, it deserves to be properly cared for. Therefore, it is crucial to pay close attention to the products we are applying to our skin and the various environmental factors to which we are exposing it each and every day.

Did you know that just one square inch of skin contains 19 million skin cells? According to the Cleveland Clinic, a square inch of skin also contains 300 sweat glands, 20 blood vessels and 1,000 nerve endings. And that’s just scratching the surface. The average adult has 2,800 square inches — about 22 square feet of skin! That’s a lot of skin to care for.

Skin has its own unique microbiome, which plays a vital role in maintaining overall health, and one of the most important components of your skin is the protective barrier that it forms. Washing with a variety of different soaps can produce a range of effects on your skin’s delicate barrier. These effects can vary significantly from person to person, as everyone reacts differently to various soap formulations and their unique ingredients. Our skin actually has its own metabolism, which is responsible for controlling the production and breakdown of essential proteins such as collagen and elastin. It also influences how well your skin renews its cells, repairs any damage, and even how it responds to the topical products you might use on a daily basis. Similar to your body’s metabolism, the metabolic processes of the skin tend to slow down with age and increased exposure to environmental aggressors. This is precisely why soap is not a one-size-fits-all solution. What works exceptionally well for me might not yield the same great results for you, and that is completely okay. To cater to diverse skin types and needs, I offer an array of different ingredients and formulations in my soaps. I genuinely encourage you to reach out if you ever have any questions or concerns about a certain ingredient, as I am here to help!

Another important note to consider is that soap is specifically designed to clean. Different ingredients in various types of soap serve distinct purposes, such as creating lather, effectively cleansing, and gently exfoliating. However, at the end of the day, the primary job of any soap bar remains to clean your skin thoroughly. It is essential to remember that soap alone should not be the sole focus of your skincare routine; there are many other crucial practices you should incorporate to care for your skin properly. This includes essential activities like sun protection to shield against harmful UV rays, taking vitamin supplements to nourish your skin from within, and regularly moisturizing to maintain hydration. Together, all of these elements work synergistically to keep both your skin and body in optimal health.

This is why I consistently put love and care into meticulously choosing my ingredients for every recipe I create. My attention to detail ensures that each component contributes to the overall quality of the finished product.
